Extended Learning
A library is more than just a place to do research. It is a unique space in the school that can facilitate learning and growing in many directions. The 4 C's (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity) can be developed in differring ways from the traditional classroom. Below are some of the ways I have tried to facilitate the development of grit, perseverance, and innovation within students. Students teaching students is one of the innovations I have pioneered within my space. Retooling the traditional study hall into a time for developing new skills.
Career ConnectionsWorking with the Guidance Counselors was great when participating in the Career Connections Video-Conferencing programs. Students were introduced to possible careers. This will help them in with their future goals and getting them to think ahead with course selections.

MinecraftEDUMinecraft is a popular game but can it be used in education? I believe so and have begun the process of using it in core classes to teach many different topics including math. I have create a group of students who educate their fellow students on techniques for Minecraft.

3-D PrintingAlthough a 3-D printer is not a necessity it does round out the experimental nature of a makerspace. Students would have to learn how to use Tinkercad in order to print. This stretched their brains into three dimensions.
